Nuts are good for you (in moderation). Everyone knows that. They have protein, fiber, calcium, iron, selenium, magnesium and vitamin E. The fat in nuts is primarily of the heart healthy monounsaturated and polyunsaturated kind. They help lower your risk of heart disease and all different diseases. Nuts have a slightly bad reputation, because they are caloric and high in fat, but studies show that nuts actually can help keep you slim if included in part of your diet. Truly, a superfood.
However, just plain nuts can get boring sometimes. That’s where things like trail mix and yogurt come in. They help make nuts more fun. What about flavoring nuts? That’s just what Sahale Snacks does. They’ve taken your typical nuts and made them fun. They are also a fun company with some fun principles guiding them:
They also tout their nuts as healthful, convenient and slightly indulgent. Perfect for a snack, in a salad or any other way your can imagine.
You’re probably wondering why I’m so excited about Sahale Snacks, aren’t you? They sent me some delicious nuts to sample, and are going to do the same for one lucky reader (more on that later!).
Sahale Snacks offers glazed nuts and nut blends, and sent me some of each to try out. I got to sample their glazed nuts which include Cashews with Pomegranate and Vanilla, Almond PB & J with Peanuts and Berries and Almonds with Cranberries, Honey and Sea Salt. Aren’t those such fabulous combinations?
Now for a little fun. Sahale Snacks has offered to send one reader their own samples of Soledad Nut Blend, Cashews with Pomegranate and Vanilla and a Sahale Snacks shirt. I’ve tried both of these blends so far,and they are out of this world.
The Cashews with Pomegranate and Vanilla is sweet, with a taste that made me feel like I was eating something really bad for me! Here’s the description:
Whole roasted cashews are teamed with pomegranate and apple, and balanced with pure, fragrant vanilla bean. Sahale Snacks’ light glaze adds just the right amount of sweetness.
The nuts clumped together and were covered in little pieces of pomegranate and apples, with a slight vanilla flavor. Sweet, but not overly so. Shape Magazine gave this blend the “Best Snack Award” in 2009!
The Soledad Nut Blend has a nice bite to it with the sweetness of the apples and the cayenne pepper balancing nicely. Here’s the description:
A tangy mix influenced by the Mediterranean, featuring almonds, flax seeds, apples, dates, balsamic vinegar and a dash of cayenne.
Solomon, who doesn’t particularly care for almonds loved these! I adore spicy nuts, I think it’s an amazing combination, and Sahale really hit the nail on the head with this one. Men’s Health named this blend one of the 125 best foods for men as the “best trail mix” in June 2009.
